Promoting Poetry to Passengers

The Moscow Metro boasts stunning stations, affordable transport and on-time, comfortable trains. Now it can add poetry to the list.
Starting from mid November, a special, “poetic train” will be making trips along one of the central lines.
The first selection of poems decorating the interior will be by leading Chilean poets – Pablo Neruda, Gabriela Mistral, Vicente Huidobro, Gonzalo Rojas and Nicanor Parra.
The Metro spokesperson was quoted as saying, their poems will “undoubtedly find a response in the hearts of passengers.”
The poems, along with some extracts from biographies and photographs, will be featured in Russian and Spanish.
While the themes and origins will keep changing, the goal of the project will remain the same: to familiarize passengers with the world’s best poets.
