First Russian booth at BookExpo America New York, 25 - 27 May 2010


For the first time at BookExpo America, the main fair of the American book market, the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications and Fund Academia Rossica with participation of Russian publishing houses was organized by the Russian booth BOOKS FROM RUSSIA. BookExpo America is undergoing dramatic changes, turning from the fair, focused on the domestic market, international book forum.

Deputy Head of Rospechat VV Grigoryev held at the fair number of productive meetings with representatives of major organizations of American book market: leadership BooksExpo America - director Steven Rosato, commercial director Michael Carlucci and manager of international projects Rudiger Vishenbartom, vice president of the American Association of Publishers Tina Jordan, director of the American Association of bookselling Oren Teycherom, representatives of the media and Publishers Weekly Publishing Perspectives. They discussed issues of expansion of cooperation between Russian and American publishers and promotion of contemporary Russian literature in the English-language book market.

Stand BOOKS FROM RUSSIA became a meeting place for representatives of Russian and American publishers, litagentov and journalists. Work also stand generated great interest among the translators and Slavic. As part of the activities of the Russian booth presentations of publishing projects, and modern Russian authors as well as translation grants fund "Russian World", conducted in partnership with the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications, and Fund Academia Rossica. Academia Rossica Foundation also presented the award Rossica Prize, established jointly with the Presidential Center of Boris Yeltsin, and announced the call for applications for 2011.
