International Fashion Week opens in St. Petersburg

Since St. Petersburg finally got its own international fashion week – the Aurora Fashion Week – it’s become a regular event in the tough schedule of the city’s bohemia.
On Monday it kicks off for the second time to display the spring/summer 2011 collections by various designers from Japan, Lithuania, Ukraine, Great Britain and Russia.
The week’s program features not only catwalk shows, but as with any other respectable fashion week, has a number of other events to offer. Around 20 discussions, seminars and master-classes dedicated to different fashion-related themes, as well as a special cinematographic program, will be on offer for the fashion week’s visitors.
The Fashion Cinema Week will open with “Valentino. The Last Emperor,” a movie about the life of the genius Italian designer. Russian premieres of movies about major figures of the fashion industry – such as the editor-in-chief of American Vogue, Anna Wintour, German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, and the legendary Coco Chanel – will also take place during the week.
