Dear friends! Russian Film Festival once again preparing to introduce a London premiere rossiyskigo best film this year, the award-winning international and Russian film festivals. 

 

Main Program

 

Of the participants will make such films as "One War" Faith Glagoleva, awarded with the main prize of the international festival "Sofia Film Fest, and nominate on Russia for an Academy Award, film festival winners Kinotavr" truce "Svetlana Proskurina and others. Also within the main program will be shown in such films as "guest workers" Yusup Razikov and "backward movement" Andrew Stempkovsky representing an ambiguous view of life and problems of immigrants from Central Asia. As always, we look forward to visit filmmakers and actors who come to London to present their films at the festival.

Documentary films - "Zero Art

 

The program of documentary films in this year's summarize the past decade, showing the ten best films of Russian documentary, one from each year. Will present the program outstanding documentary filmmaker, president of the festival "ArtDokFest, Vitaly Mansky.

Animation

In addition to the program of artistic and documentary films, we are preparing a large and varied animation program. As part of our Festival "Star Dogs Belka and Arrow" to fly into space in the first Russian animated film, filmed in the format of 3D, Irina Evteeva, known for its exquisite original technique by playing on the screen "Small Tragedy." Also, we present a new masterpiece of the famous masters of Soviet and Russian animation Garry Bardin - the film "The Ugly Duckling", which received great attention in Russia. These films will be of interest to both children and adults. In addition to the rich program full-length animation, especially for young viewers, we have prepared a program that will provide the best animated films of recent years have become the winners of Russian and international animation festivals.

Special screenings

 

The Festival will be held retrospective screenings of outstanding actor and director Sergei Bondarchuk and adaptations of works by Leo Tolstoy, as well as retrospective shows masters of Soviet and Russian animation.

The fourth consecutive year running the program of the Festival will be held in one of the best cinemas - Apollo Cinema, located in the heart of London at Piccadilly Circus. 

The Russkiy Mir Foundation in collaboration with Academia Rossica is launching a programme of grants for literary translation from Russian into English. This programme aims to promote Russian literature internationally and facilitate cultural and intellectual links between Russia and the English-speaking world. 



We invite publishers and translators to apply for funding to translate works from Russian into English. We are particularly keen to support projects that aim to bring original literary projects and works by contemporary Russian writers to a wider English audience. On the whole, priority is given to translation of contemporary fiction and poetry; literary non-fiction titles and new translations of classics may also be eligible if they are exceptional in terms of literary value. The scheme supports only translations from the original Russian text.

Please include the following with your application:

In the written proposal, the publisher or translator should explain the rationale for selecting the text or texts for translation, also assessing the importance of the writer in the wider cultural context. Any reader's reports could also be included. As the quality of the translation is an important criterion, please also include the translator's CV. We recommend that the publisher also include a copy of the contract (or draft) between the publisher and the translator - usually based on the model recommended by the Translators' Association. Please note that the scheme funds between 50% to 100% of the cost of translation. 

Another important criterion for assessment is strong and well thought out plans for the marketing, promotion and distribution of the title. We are particularly interested in innovative, imaginative and effective ways of bringing contemporary Russian literature to a wider international audience. As part of this scheme, Academia Rossica will provide help in promotion of titles published with the support of the Russkiy Mir translation grants.

Publishers of translations supported by the Russkiy Mir grants are requested to put the Russkiy Mir Foundation’ and Academia Rossica’s logos on the back cover or jacket of supported titles.

For the first time at BookExpo America, the main fair of the American book market, the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications and Fund Academia Rossica with participation of Russian publishing houses was organized by the Russian booth BOOKS FROM RUSSIA. BookExpo America is undergoing dramatic changes, turning from the fair, focused on the domestic market, international book forum.

Deputy Head of Rospechat VV Grigoryev held at the fair number of productive meetings with representatives of major organizations of American book market: leadership BooksExpo America - director Steven Rosato, commercial director Michael Carlucci and manager of international projects Rudiger Vishenbartom, vice president of the American Association of Publishers Tina Jordan, director of the American Association of bookselling Oren Teycherom, representatives of the media and Publishers Weekly Publishing Perspectives. They discussed issues of expansion of cooperation between Russian and American publishers and promotion of contemporary Russian literature in the English-language book market.

Stand BOOKS FROM RUSSIA became a meeting place for representatives of Russian and American publishers, litagentov and journalists. Work also stand generated great interest among the translators and Slavic. As part of the activities of the Russian booth presentations of publishing projects, and modern Russian authors as well as translation grants fund "Russian World", conducted in partnership with the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications, and Fund Academia Rossica. Academia Rossica Foundation also presented the award Rossica Prize, established jointly with the Presidential Center of Boris Yeltsin, and announced the call for applications for 2011.
