Sicilian-blooded saxophonist to play his jazz in Moscow

A hot temper multiplied by the highest professionalism - that is what describes prominent Italian saxophonist Stefano Bedetti. Get ready to hear pure jazz with an Italian national twist in Moscow.
Sicilian-born Stefano Bedetti was first struck by the power of jazz after hearing a recording of legend Charlie Parker. Jazz immediately turned into a life purpose for Stefano and on his 14th birthday he finally received a dream gift – a shiny saxophone and a fistful of money to pay for his first lessons.
It didn’t take Bedetti’s tutor long to see the natural talent and true passion for jazz in the young man and he received a scholarship. The emotional manner of Stefano Bedetti’s performance was soon noted in Italy and subsequently in NewYork. Such masters as Billy Hart, Ed Howard, Tony Scott, Victor Lewis, Ingrid Jensen, Billy Drummond, Dave Stryker and many others today call Bedetti the Italian "Bird", in memory of how he was influenced by the genius Parker.
Numerous tours and jazz festivals, concerts and studio recordings with various artists and bands soon entered Bedetti’s life and secured a place there until now.
Today Stefano Bedetti is a part of a new trio. Along with the Italian sax player are his old friends – drummer Victor Lewis and bass player Ed Howard. Stefano is one of those who made jazz become not only an elite art in Italy, but also the phenomenon of taste and style. Bedetti constantly takes part in popular TV-shows never letting go of his saxophone.

Review: Russian Pianist Highlights Madison Symphony Orchestra Show

MADISON -- You've got to hand it to John DeMain: At every season opener he finds ways to make the Madison Symphony Orchestra audience truly happy it decided to buy tickets.
The mood starts even before the MSO plays the "Star Spangled Banner." DeMain is something of a rock star in Madison and, as he strides to the podium, the Overture Hall audience almost wills him to be successful.
The fact that he has built a pretty good orchestra into a really good orchestra during his 17 years in Madison doesn't hurt the anticipation.
Friday's concert began with Brahms' “Academic Festival Overture,” a collection of Viennese student songs set to classical music. It set the tone for the evening, serious, but light-hearted music that taxed the orchestra but not the audience.
Then, of course, there was Olga Kern. A 36-year old Russian pianist who last performed with the MSO in 2009. Public television viewers may also have watched her perform this summer during a telecast of Metropolitan Opera soprana Renee Fleming's tour of St. Petersburg.
The fact that Kern is drop-dead gorgeous doesn't hurt matters. She walked on the stage wearing an evening gown that appeared almost too slim-cut to allow her to use the pedals on her Yamaha piano. She spent a couple of minutes adjusting the piano seat ("it was perfect this afternoon," she joked) and, then, blew the house apart with her rendition of Rachmaninoff's "Concerto No. 2 in c Minor."
Madison almost always gives its guest performers a standing ovation. We consider it polite. But, this time, people were on their feet cheering almost before Kern's fingers lifted from the keyboard. The audience would have been happy to have her just keep coming back and playing encores for the remainder of the evening.
But, she didn't. There was an intermission and, then, the MSO concluded its concert with Bartok's “Concerto for Orchestra.”
Now, after Olga Kern, this all seemed a bit anticlimactic. It was nothing of the sort. This was a very difficult piece of music that stretched the orchestra – but didn't break it. The MSO rose to the occasion and, to my mind, at least, played the piece flawlessly. It wasn't the musicians' fault that we all wanted Olga back.
At any rate, this year's MSO season had a great opening, one that promises another great year of music.

Milla Jovovich goes all out method with Robert De Niro

HollywoodNews.com: Not only can Milla Jovovich kill zombies, but she’s able to go toe-to-toe when playing opposite Robert De Niro.

Jovovich stars with the method actor and Edward Norton in the new drama-thriller “Stone” which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. Relativity Media is overseeing U.S. distribution.
IMDB’s plot summary for “Stone”: “A convicted arsonist looks to manipulate a parole officer into a plan to secure his parole by placing his beautiful wife in the lawman’s path.”
In the film, Jovovich plays Lucetta, a femme fatale, and wife to her convict spouse De Niro.
U.K.’s The Sun covered a story where Jovovich confessed that her sex scenes got so intense with De Niro, she felt “violated” after shooting them.
Says the Russian born actress: “Lucetta is definitely a tough character, with the nudity and the sexuality, especially to have to get intimate with people you’ve only met that day. It’s hard. You feel violated.”
Luckily Jovovich’s hubby “Resident Evil” director Paul W.S. Anderson got her through the part.
“You come home sobbing,” says Jovovich, “My poor husband would have to deal with it.”

Russia: Will Dima Bilan win the MTV Best European Act?

The magnificent Spanish capital city Madrid will be hosting the forthcoming MTV Europe Awards on the 7th of November at the Caja Mágica Stadium. Eurovision winner Dima Bilan is currently standing in 2nd position in the online voting for the Best European Act 2011. Will he be able to topple the Polish band Afromental, who are currently stadning at number 1?
Another Eurovision act who is in the running is none other than the Greek mega star Sakis Rouvas who after winning the prize for best MTV Greek Act is also competing for Best European Act. Other famous acts around Europe competing in the same category are Enrique Iglesias for Spain, Inna for Romania and Rasmus Seebach for Denmark.
The 2010 European Music Awards will be held in Madrid on Sunday the 7th of November and hosted byDesperate housewives star Eva Longoria. Last year's EMA Best European Act Manga went on to represent Turkey at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo.

Anna Chapman, 28, poses in revealing lingerie for the November issue of Russian Maxim magazine. The former Russian spy is wearing nothing but black thigh highs and a lacy bra on the cover, and of course holds a silver handgun.


“Seduction, like love and friendship are the same everywhere,” she told the magazine. “Most men are divided in three categories: primitive, those that only want sex; smarter, those that want to be loved, and [the] last group — those that not only want to be loved, they also need that this love will be the biggest and most amazing feeling in your life.”


Anna, who since being kicked out of the U.S., was invited to attend Angelina Jolie’s premiere of her spy thriller flick, Salt, and hired by a Russian investment bank as a “technology advisor.” It sounds like she’s doing pretty well for herself!

Pop-singing sensation Sasha has been a huge hit in Russia since she was 18-years-old, and is now setting her sights on conquering the United States!


Sasha is not only a hit singer, but she’s also a model, a choreographer, and a TV and video producer. According to TMZ, the 23-year-old tennis star is sporting some “impressive” new bling on her ring finger — LA Lakers shooting guard Sasha Vujacic proposed to Maria at his Manhattan Beach, Calif., home Oct. 19, after just a year of dating.
Maria, who is the world’s highest-paid female athlete, was spotted not too long ago walking the streets of Udine, Italy after a wedding for one of Sasha’s friends.
They’re both champions on their respective courts — Maria with three Grand Slam titles, and Sasha with his two NBA championships.
